While still trying to figure out how to pronounce “Covfefe” the band powers through a mid August rehearsal at the still-feels-new Burbank Musician’s Union 47.

The Bill Holman Big Band has come together at Local 47 for a few mid summer rehearsals. This time, lots of subs, even a regular subbing for a regular: Kirsten Edkins, second tenor sat in for first tenor Doug Webb.

Last rehearsal at Musician’s Union Local 47’s Vine St. Address

Since the early 50’s Hollywood has been 47’s home. They closed Friday night at 1 pm. The new offices in Burbank aren’t ready yet, so it will be a minuet before The Bill Holman Big Band can book a union rehearsal hall. Some say September. Stay tuned.

One down, two to go.

Musicians Local 47 is shutting down its Hollywood location in July and moving to it’s new location in Burbank. According to afm.org, though union business will continue, state-of-the-art, larger, sound-proofed, rehearsal rooms will not be available at the Winona Avenue location until September.

Stay tuned for an exact restart of regular Bill Holman Big Band rehearsals.

“If we’re together, you’re wrong.”

– Doug Webb’s counsel to the young second tenor sub. Even with ten out of fifteen substitutes the band sounded great. Willis said, “Subs show up on time.” The band powered through 15 charts.
